One of the most popular terms you will hear in the modified car scene is ‘tuning’. More specifically ECU tuning (In-depth, what is ECU Tuning), which is actually also a general term covering flash tunes, stand-alone ECU tunes, and chiptunes. Chiptunes actually work a tad differently to other ECU tunes, and there’s a lot of information about them online. However, something not many discuss; is chip tuning bad for your car?

Although you will have heard the benefits of chip tuning, such as the improved fuel economy, the obvious power upgrades, and more, there isn’t much chatter about if it is actually good for the vehicle? Or if the warranty gets voided after it's installed. After all, manufacturers spend years and years developing a vehicle and go through a ton of vigorous testing for the vehicle to be the best it can be to the general public!
